In line with this commitment, CICT adheres to the CLI’s SBG which incorporate social integration standards. The SBG ensures that the accessibility and usability criteria are considered from the onset of any project development, such as major renovations and developments in Singapore. The social integration criteria in the SBG include: • E nsuring accessibility in the built environment for people of different age groups and varying abilities • P roviding connectivity to public transport, roads, amenities and between buildings • P roviding community spaces as public gathering points Universal Design (UD) considerations ensure that the public areas of our properties are accessible and welcoming of people of all ages and abilities. They include: • S eamless connectivity to the external surrounding environment, e.g. bus stops, adjacent buildings, streets and sidewalks • W heelchair-accessible parking lots and family lots • B arrier-free access from wheelchair-accessible parking spaces and family parking lots to lift lobbies • S heltered and barrier-free drop-off areas • D esignated pedestrian lanes in carparks • A menities such as wheelchair-accessible restrooms, lifts, and nursing rooms BCA awarded six of our properties UD Mark, recognising their excellence in universal building design and accessibility. For operating properties, the target is to achieve a minimum green rating for all operating properties For new projects in Singapore, the target is to achieve at least a UD Mark Gold certification as assessed by BCA. Overseas properties are to comply with local UD/ barrierfree codes and guidelines and are encouraged to adopt Singapore’s BCA UD Guide in the absence of local codes and guidelines when undergoing asset enhancement.
