CMT ANNUAL REPORT 2003

Return to Homepage

With the relatively short history of Real Estate Investment Trusts (REIT) in Singapore, the Manager recognises that many investors are not familiar with the investment characteristics of this new asset class. Consequently, investor relations remain an integral function of management in our pursuit to exceed unitholders expectations and educate the broader Singapore investment community.

Regular briefings for analysts and the media have been conducted and planned for every half-yearly announcement. Such communication sessions provide analysts and the media with a platform to clear their doubts and for the management to address such doubts.

Senior management of CMTML plays an active role in investor relations by regularly going on roadshows to meet local and foreign investors. In fact, the Manager has been especially active in conferences and seminars locally and abroad to educate retail and institutional investors on REITs, and in particular about CMT. The Manager considers meetings with local and foreign fund managers an integral part of the investor relations component of its responsibilities.

During the year under review, the Manager met with institutional investors in Singapore, Hong Kong, United Kingdom, various European cities and Australia. The purpose of these meetings was to update potential and current investors on the developments that have taken place. CMT also participates in various conferences locally and in the region as part of its efforts to build up interest in the REIT market. The Manager will continue to pursue opportunities to educate and keep retail investors informed of the emergence of the REIT industry.

CMT has in the past year been included in various prestigious investment indices which are widely referred to by international fund managers as performance benchmarks in the selection and monitoring of investments. These include Global Property Researchs GPR 250 Index and GPR General Index, as well as the EPRA/NAREIT Global Real Estate Index and its sub-indices.

The Manager maintains an open door policy with all investors and welcome investor meetings and tours of the CMT malls.
