Funan is located in Singapores Central Business
District (CBD) and is one of the nations premier destinations
for IT and electronic products. Funans unique tenancy
mix is a combination of a strong IT offering and comprehensive
food and lifestyle outlets. This provides an interesting
difference from most other shopping centres in Singapore.
Funan is a specialised mall which comprises
three basement levels of car parking, a food court at
basement 1 and six storeys of retail space. Given its
focus on IT and electronic products, Funan primarily
attracts professionals, managers, executives and business
people (PMEBs) shopping for such products. Funan also
offers a wide range of lifestyle and food & beverage
outlets that adds to the customers total shopping experience. |
Unlike the other three malls in the CMT portfolio,
Funan draws shoppers from all over Singapore due to its unique
offering. It also attracts a large number of tourists.
The objective for Funan is to optimise financial
performance, strengthen market positioning as the preferred
one-stop IT mall that offers the latest and widest range of
genuine IT and electronic products at competitive prices and
also to continuously enhance customers shopping experience.

In our continuing efforts to refine and strengthen
the retail tenancy mix at Funan, many new food and lifestyle
shops were introduced in 2003. These include Ya Kun, Ajisen
Japanese Restaurant, HomeFix, Food Junction, Cold Storage,
Swensens, Sakae Sushi, Vietro, Pasta Mania, Andersens of Denmark
Ice Cream and Derma Formulae. Two new entrances were also
recently created to increase the visibility of Food Junction
and Cold Storage - new anchors of Funan. These also improve
accessibility for the convenience of shoppers.
We aim to bring in more tenants specialising in
IT peripherals, electronic equipment (including digital, photography
and mobile equipment) and a more comprehensive range of non-IT
tenants including sporting goods stores and food & beverage
outlets, whilst maintaining the malls IT focus.
In the pipeline is a major facelift for the annex
block. The revamp will give Funan a totally refreshing look.
The new open concept comes complete with see-through glass
facade from levels 2 to 3 and direct access via escalators
from street level to the upper levels of the mall. This capitalises
on the heavy pedestrian traffic flow on the adjacent High
Street and Coleman Street junction and provides for better
accessibility for shoppers as well as better visibility for
the malls retailers. Works have commenced and is expected
to be completed by end 2004.
With the Supreme Court opposite the mall targeted
for completion in 2005, increased pedestrian traffic can be
expected at the mall.
The talk of the town which resulted in overnight
queues and made the headlines of Channel News Asia was the
3-Hour Mega Sale in 2003 which doubled shopper traffic on
an average day and generated increased turnover for participating
tenants.
Besides the 3-Hour Mega Sale, 2003 was packed
with other events like the Business Solutions Fair, TechnoQuest
2003, the Great Singapore IT Sale, Funan Microsoft Game Challenge,
DareDevil Movie Preview, Beyblade and Tamiya Mini 4WD competitions.
In 2004, shoppers can look forward to the return
of the 3-Hour Mega Sale and other iconic events such as the
Business Solutions Fair and the Great Singapore IT Sale. Besides
these, there will be the SingTel Olympics, Robotic Grand Prix
and Singapore Food Festival to promote the many new food &
beverage outlets at Funan.
